2012 Centurion Enzo SV244. Currently waiting to be surfed...
Top- 11-13-11. OK this is not at the Parker, Arizona World Championship Wake Surfing Competition. It's just Julie Wake Surfing down at the Orlando Watersports Complex. Ed and Julie were down for the Marine Dealers Conference and Expo earlier in the week so they figured why not? Their good friend Steve Raymond suggested it, how bad could it be? Well the ramps were looking good but it was a long way to swim back to the cable so they opted for the boat and some instruction. They both boarded and then Julie had enough time for some wake surfing. Neat. Now they're psyched to get some runs in that new red and black 2012 Centurion Enzo SV244. Good thing we bought those wetsuits. Hopefully the weather will hang in there 1 more week. We'll have to leave work early as the daylight is gone at 5pm now... Beats working, wait, this might be considered working...
08-22-11 Julie learning how to ride the wave. We're on a mission...
There it is !!!! A 2012 Centurion SV211 with the beautiful Ovation gel scheme. This is one beautiful boat. Chuck and the gang down at Lake Country Marine in Mineral, Va. were nice enough to let this one go so that Winnisquam Marine could have a boat for use/display until our order boats came in. Thanks Lake Country Marine- That's real teamwork... So- now Ed and Julie have their boat and it's wake surf time... Have you seen the forecast? Saturday is forecasted to be 85F. Last one in is a rotten egg !!!!
10-08-11 Ed is on a mission to get surfing before the Boston show! Now Winnisquam Marine has another Centurion to Demo. He's up but not quite surfing yet on the first try, in the dark no less.
Will did a bit better. He's been out twice and has the technique down. Ed and Will both surf goofy so they're on the wrong side of the wake. And last, but not least, here's Ryan's new rig. A 2012 Premier 251 Alante. Please come see this boat, and maybe go for a ride... 36in PTX with a Mercury 225 Pro XS. 45mph. A beautiful ride, better than a fiberglass boat! Don't believe it, come for a ride and draw your own conclusion. Look at the new optional LED lighting, very nice...
Top to bottom/left to right- Another load of Premier pontoons arrives early in the am as Ed preps for the ride to Va. Over the George Washington bridge in NY, look no traffic, a Centurion Enzo SV211 in white combo and a SV230 in a smart blue combo. Nice...
Have you heard what the gang at Winnisquam Marine is selling now? The top wake surf boat in the USA !!!! These boats are the second largest growing boating segment in the US, right behind Premier, ooops we mean pontoon boats... 09-22-11 Ed and Julie make it out to Parker Arizona for the 2012 World Championship Wake Surf Competition. It's a balmy 106F. Wow. We're excited to get out and see the boats and Julie's going to do a little wake surfing herself. MORE soon...
09-22-11 LH- Ok call me a liar, it was only 105F. RH- The Centurion crew out on the water setting up the wake surf course
09-22-11 LH- Winnisquam Marine will be ordering a Centurion Enzo SV244 for stock. That's it on the left. The official tow boat of the World Championship Wakesurf Competition. This is a big, deep V that has a great ride for an inboard. That's why it doesn't have to lay way over like the competition to get a good wake. RH- Here's the wake behind another Centurion SV244 that's set up for goofy surfers, who ride on the starboard side of the boat. Centurion is the only inboard that has a reverse rotation Vee drive so the breaking wave is on the stbd side. Beautiful wave...
OK- wakesurfers... Centurion SL244 on the left with ballast bags loaded and ready for the competition tomorrow. SL244 in the center is the factories backup boat in case (heaven forbid) one of the others suffers a mechanical issue. No ballast loaded. And finally the SL244 on the right is their goofy boat. Specially loaded for guys like Ed who board with their right foot forward.
LH- Here's another Centurion SV211 on the left. Velocity jel scheme. RH- Julie checks out a competitors Centurion Avalanche. A bit narrower beam, no Pro-Vision computer onboard and a lower price. This one is a couple years old and has their older tower design. The competition starts tomorrow, Friday 09-23-11
09-23-11 8:00am The 2012 World Championship Wakesurf Competition Begins !!!!
Friday is the day for all Masters, Amateurs to surf and the Pro Surf Qualifying. All competitors get up to 3 runs and/or 3 falls total. The course is marked by large end buoys and smaller 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 course buoys. You point scoring begins once the rope is out of your hand and you are truly surfing. If you are ending a trick at a course end buoy, you must be in control of your board even if you are past the buoy. So- if you fell after the buoy your partial 360 completed just before the buoy does not get points. If competitors have fallen twice in say the first run, they will do easier tricks to build some points and use at least part of the 3 possible runs before attempting more difficult maneuvers and possibly falling the 3rd time, in which case you are done. They run the regular stance (left foot forward) boat for awhile and then the 3 judges swap over to the goofy (right foot forward) boat. There's also a photographer and an observer in the tow boat. It's incredibly hot out here. Today it was ok till 9:30am and then the heat was 106+. The competitors have a big task just staying sharp in this heat. Swimming definitely helps staying cool. The setup for the Championships is great. The boat run on an approved course about 75 feet out from shore. There's also a camera mounted on the chase/media/photographer boat that streams live video to a flat screen onshore. (in the shade for us lightweight northerners...) Tomorrow, Saturday 09-24-11, is the Pro Final Wake Surf Competition. It will be good... More coming!!!!
09-24-11 Sunday. 2012 World Wake Surf Competition Finals. All the eliminations were over yesterday. The Masters, amateurs and then the pros compete. If you made it this far, you're one of the best. The girls competitors were great and their competition was close.
Riding the wave... The clouds came out during the girls competition. With a little shade to cool off everybody excelled.
No points till you get rid of the rope. If a competitor fell on course and was getting back up, they immediately started surfing and got rid of the rope to score more points. The Pro men's competition was unbelievable.
LH- Julie checking out one of the SV244 competition boats, Just like one of the boats Winnisquam Marine has on order. RH- Ed Crawford- owner Winnisquam Marine, Rick Lee- owner Centurion Boats and Julie Crawford- wake surfer and salesperson/marketing mgr Winnisquam Marine. Winnisquam Marine has ordered several boats right at the show. Thanks to Bryan and Chris for all their help. On the left is our 2012 Centurion Enzo SV244. This is the official towboat for the Wake Surf Championships. This boat can be use for wake boarding of surfing. The boat on the right is our Enzo SV211. The silver flake looks awesome out in the sun. There is a similar boat here at the competition and it's just beautiful. Both these boats cam be used for skiing too. Just get the weight in the boat forward and put the trim tab down, and the wake flattens out for good recreational skiing. This is just 2 of the boats that we've bought at the show!!!!

Competitors at the 2011 Championship Wake Surf Competition in Parker, Arizona. Ed and Julie went out for the 2011 Championships to learn all they could about the sport. We now know how to set up the exact same wave as at the Championships.
